Man dies after officer-involved shooting in Pacoima

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was killed in an officer-involved shooting that followed a family dispute in the Arleta-Pacoima area.

The incident started around 4:35 p.m. when police were called to the 13000 block of Ottoman Street in Pacoima. When officers got to the scene, they found a man with a handgun and at some point in their interactions with the man, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect fled on foot, running through the yards of nearby homes and an alley. Officers again fired their weapon and this time the suspect was struck by gunfire and fell to the ground in the area of Arleta Avenue and Branford Street. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

A handgun and shotgun were recovered at the scene.

A large police presence descended on the scene after the officer-involved shooting. Officers were seen with their weapons out, surrounding a home in the area. But there were no reports of additional arrests.
