SeaWorld San Diego welcomed a healthy baby bottlenose dolphin to its marine family on Saturday afternoon, marking the 80th successful dolphin birth at the amusement park.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KABC) -- SeaWorld San Diego welcomed a healthy baby bottlenose dolphin to its marine family on Saturday afternoon, marking the 80th successful dolphin birth at the amusement park.

Mother dolphin Sadie, who is 13, gave birth to her second calf at 3:32 p.m. at Dolphin Stadium. The baby came in at a whopping 40 pounds.

Her first calf, Kailani Koa, was born in 2009.

Trainers and veterinarians said the mother and baby were bonding and swimming together. In the next few weeks, they will continue to monitor both. A gender will also later be determined.
