Delta plane engine catches fire before takeoff at John Wayne Airport

SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- This is not what you want to see as you're about to take off. Cellphone video captured smoke coming out of a plane as it was about to take off.

The Delta Airlines flight was about to take off from John Wayne Airport for Atlanta when the crew reported an engine issue, and the aircraft returned to the gate. An investigation is underway to find out what caused the engine to smoke in Orange County.

Maintenance crews and the FAA are investigating. No one was hurt.
