A 33-year-old mother who was pregnant with twins was killed in a San Bernardino County crash and loved ones are now reeling from the sudden and heartbreaking loss.
The deadly incident happened June 27 near the intersection of Wichita and Zuni roads in Apple Valley, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
The victim, identified as Lorena Lopez, was driving with her two other young kids in the car when a 25-year-old driver ran a stop sign and broadsided her in the intersection.
Lopez died, as well as her unborn twins, at the scene. Her two other kids were taken to a trauma center and remain hospitalized.
Meanwhile, the driver accused of hitting them was also taken to the hospital.
On Wednesday, family and loved ones gathered at the scene for a somber vigil.
"I hope he pays.. And I hope he does the time," said the victim's brother, Jose. "... Even if he does 100 years, there is not enough time that will bring her back."
