Burglars ransack young couple's home in Valley Village

VALLEY VILLAGE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A group of burglars is on the run after they were caught on surveillance video walking out of a Valley Village home with arms full of valuables.

The young couple who lives at the home says the footage shows the thieves getting away with thousands of dollars worth of watches, jewelry and other possessions Friday night.

Josh Michnowski says he and his family now feel violated.

"It' just really not right, emotionally. My wife is 5 months pregnant. We're going to be giving birth early next year, God willing at the right time. We're going to be bringing a new person into this world and this is our first house."

The brazen break-in happened around 8 p.m. while he and his wife were out having dinner. They returned to find their home had been ransacked.

"The cushions were flipped up on our coach, the sheets were ripped off our bed, the mattress was moved. Our socks and underwear were thrown out of the drawers onto the ground. Someone took my briefcase and dumped it out," said Michnowski.

He believes he was targeted and says he's seen a group of people lurking behind their home before.

"I remember seeing three individuals walking in the alley beside our house... I made eye contact with them, they walked around the back side of my office and then doubled back and left from that same alley."

Photos show damage to the deadbolts to the home's front door and second floor patio door.

Michnowski thinks some of the suspects used a planter box next to the home to climb up and get inside. He believes three men and one woman were involved.

The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the break-in, but no arrests have been made.
