CRENSHAW, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Crenshaw High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a student's father was stabbed in a South Los Angeles neighborhood just north of the campus, authorities said.

According to an LAUSD spokesperson, the suspects came on to campus and were involved in a physical altercation with a student before school.

"The altercation escalated and unfortunately resulted in stabbing of an adult caregiver outside of the school," said the spokesperson.

Two people - believed to be minors - were taken into custody, according to the LAPD and Los Angeles School Police Department.

Police said the father drove himself to a nearby hospital where he has since been treated. A K-9 unit was summoned after officers closed streets and set up a perimeter.

Aerial video from AIR7 showed several LAPD vehicles at the scene as the search for what was believed to be a third suspect continued in the area near the campus, located at 5010 11th Avenue, just east of Crenshaw Boulevard.

As of Thursday afternoon, two people were in custody.

Out of an abundance of caution, School Police be on campus the rest of the day and thru mid-week next week.

"We take the safety and security of our students and our campus very seriously," said the LAUSD spokesperson. "We encourage everyone in our school community to treat each other with respect, kindness, and compassion. Students are always encouraged to tell an adult at school if they are experiencing any issues with other students."
