Dodgers fulfill $1M pledge to support families of immigrants impacted by ICE raids, report says

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers have fulfilled a pledge to support families of immigrants impacted by last year's ICE raids, making a $1.1 million donation to community organizations, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The funding was distributed to two nonprofits: the California Community Federation and Labor Community Services. The donation follows calls from religious leaders and labor groups last year urging the team to take action as immigration raids targeted communities near Dodger Stadium.

There was also a petition urging Dodgers owner Mark Walter to sell his company's stake in ICE jails and deportation flights.

Guggenheim Partners had owned more than $12 million in shares of private prison operator Geo Group.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Guggenheim Partners no longer held any shares in the company as of March.
