HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A group of neighbors got together Saturday to help clear out mounds of clutter from a Huntington Beach home following a series of complaints.

The home, located on Pitcarin Lane, has been the center of 39 complaints over the years, according to the city. Some neighbors said junk, rubble and trees were so overgrown, they had swallowed cars in the driveway.

Neighbors say the mounds of clutter outside a Huntington Beach home are so bad, they can't use the sidewalk in front of the house.

Over the weekend, a group of neighbors and some local businesses came together to help the owner clear the property, and they've made significant progress. Neighbors told ABC7 that the homeowner is fighting cancer.

Eyewitness News previously tried to contact the homeowner, but those efforts were unsuccessful.

The city said multiple citations have been filed.

"Code Enforcement is working closely with the city attorney's office, but due to ongoing matters, we cannot provide further comment at this time," Huntington Beach Public Affairs Manager Corbin Carson said in a written statement last week.
