SoCal pizzerias give out free pizzas to support those in need

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Dozens of Southern California pizzerias teamed up Wednesday night to thank the community and help out those affected by the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.

They fired up their ovens and doled out hundreds of free pizzas.

For the second year in a row, the L.A. Pizza Alliance set up portable pizza ovens outside of LaSorted Pizza in Chinatown and used the kitchen inside as well to make and deliver 1,000 free pizzas.

"We have 75 of L.A's best pizza shops here in Chinatown distributing pizzas to anyone who needs it," said David Turkell, co-founder of the Pizza Alliance. "Specifically, people who have suffered from the Eaton Fire, from the Palisades Fire, as well as people who, you know, have been torn apart by the recent ICE raids that have been happening all over the city."

The Pizza Alliance was born last year in the days after the wildfires and has grown by 50% since then. Pizzerias from all across L.A., as well as Orange County, pitched in to bake Wednesday for free.

"It's a beautiful thing to watch these small businesses, members of your community, come together, just to let people know that we're here to support you," Pizza Alliance co-founder Tommy Brocker said.
