'Made in Korea's' Hyun Bin reveals what he's most looking forward to audiences watching in season 2
The second season jumps ahead nine years
"Made in Korea" is back for a second season and the stakes are even higher.
The show stars Hyun Bin as Baek Kitae, Jung Woosung as framed prosecutor Jang Geonyoung, and Woo Dohwan as Kitae's brother Baek Kihyun.
The second season jumps forward nine years. According to the official description, "season two follows Baek Kitae as he continues his rise to power after framing prosecutor Jang Geonyoung. Now the Deputy Director of the Korean CIA (KCIA), Kitae continues to grow his wealth and influence, expanding his drug operations across the region. But with political turmoil and discontent spreading, Kitae's old foe Geonyoung will step out from the shadows to exact his revenge nine years in the making. With more at stake than ever before, Geonyoung and Kitae will break every rule and cross every line to eliminate the other once and for all in this fast-paced second installment."
"In Season one, the two main characters collided, with the balance of power leaning heavily to one side. At the end of Season one, Jang Geonyoung was shut out and eventually left behind. In Season two, Geonyoung returns with the goal of exacting his revenge on Baek Kitae," Woosung said.
Bin said he's looking forward to seeing the audience's reaction to one particular scene.
"There's a segment in the story where Kitae doesn't have a single line. I think the entire sequence was about 10 minutes based on the on-set edit, and Kitae doesn't say a single word until a certain point. I'm curious as to how that entire sequence has turned out after detailed post-production work and editing and how viewers will respond to it," said Bin.
"I think viewers who enjoyed Season one will naturally be curious about how much the characters have changed in Season two, with nearly a decade having passed. They will also want to see how certain relationships have deepened and how much greater the characters' desires have become over that time. I think the story now has a much greater scale. I think if you loved season one, you'll enjoy season two even more," said Wohwan.
