Man, dog killed in Sherman Oaks hit-and-run involving Maserati

SHERMAN OAKS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are looking for the driver of a Maserati who hit and killed an 80-year-old man and his dog in Sherman Oaks before taking off.

The man and his dog were walking in the bike lane along Woodman Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. That's when officers believe the suspected hit-and-run driver swerved and hit them.

The dog died at the scene. The man, identified by his daughter as Andriy Korshunov, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but did not survive.

"He didn't help him... He killed two souls," said Ilana Ceitlin, the victim's daughter.

The car involved in the crash, a Maserati Quattroporte, was found abandoned a few blocks away at Mammoth Avenue and Milbank Street. It did not have license plates.

The car was towed as police investigate the deadly hit-and-run crash.

Neighbors in the area were shaken up and say cars race down that street all the time.

"I don't take my dog here at night because people are always racing down the road over, so you see accidents here," Sherman Oaks resident Trevor said.

Ceitlin is stunned by how it all happened.

"My father was a Holocaust survivor... He survived the Ukrainian war and then he was killed in a peaceful country."
