Remote-controlled plane strikes 2 outside CA home

WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KABC) -- A remote-controlled plane went off course during a demonstration at a California airport Saturday and hit two people, leaving them hospitalized, authorities said.

It happened during the Fire in the Sky Open House at Watsonville Municipal Airport near Santa Cruz.

The city of Watsonville said the aircraft went off course and struck two people outside of a home on Buena Vista Drive.

One of the victims sustained moderate injuries, while the other sustained "serious but non-life-threatening injuries."

The incident collision also caused damage to the exterior of the home. It's unclear what caused the aircraft to go off course.

The crash remains under investigation.
