Spread your wings in the New Year at Moody Rooster in Westlake Village

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (KABC) -- For delicious farm-to-table, new American cuisine, pay a visit to Moody Rooster in Westlake Village.

"Our business model was based around coming into our home and the love you feel when you walk into our house," co-owner Vicki Crannell said.

Vicki and Chef Collin have served seasonal fare since 2017. Their menu boasts favorites like half-roasted chicken, octopus and steak.

Burrata, vegetables from local farmers and crispy gnocchi with fondue delight guests' tastebuds.

Fun finds like truffle flatbreads, and goat cheese and trout toasts are easy to love.

"I think a lot of people that work in Los Angeles live out here, and they're happy to have a restaurant that you would find in the city," Vicki said.

Here at Moody Rooster, they also take pride in what they call their "farm-to-bar" wine and cocktail experience.

Sommelier Francesco sources primarily old-world vines to pair with each entrée.

Between dinner and dessert, starting the new year at Moody Rooster is a must.

"We have so many regulars, and so many people we've loved and who've become friends of ours over the years," Collin said. "It's just, it's very heartwarming, and I just feel very, very good."

As for the name, chef Collin was born in the year of the rooster, and old cooks teased him for being a little moody.

"One guy comes in and he asked me how I'm doing. I didn't hear him while I was cooking," Collin said. "He said, 'Oh, you moody, moody.'"

Don't forget to stop by Moody Market Provisions, their gourmet deli just steps away in the Westlake Commons shopping center.

"The community has really supported what we do, the farm-to-table aspect of it and just the love that we put into what we're doing," Vicki said.

The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday.

Walk-ins are accepted, but you are encouraged to make a reservation.

Moody Rooster is located at 2900 Townsgate Rd., Unit 113, in Westlake Village.
