BELLFLOWER, Calif. (KABC) -- Sit down to breakfast at Uncle Bud's Kitchen in Bellflower.
Named after the original owner who served as a cook in the Korean war, Uncle Bud's has proudly served this community since the late 1940s.
"1975 I started coming here!" longtime customer John Ercse said.
Uncle Bud's Kitchen is most known for its biscuits and gravy, Eggs Benedict and pancakes, but also serves delightful porkchops, scrambles and French toast.
The restaurant is also known for its old-school charm, with just 10 barstools and two tables. Plus, it's cash only.
"Something that's working already, why change it?" Uncle Bud's owner Gay Griffin said.
Griffin started here as a server in the early '70s.
"We had people who got married and they met here at Bud's, and they raised their family," Griffin said. "And now, their children's children are coming in."
Griffin's daughter Amy cooks and manages the restaurant.
"Everybody that comes into Uncle Bud's is really just like family to us, whether or not they've been a regular for years," Amy Brink said.
"We had one guy come in here; he got his bike stolen. And the community came together and bought him a new bike," Griffin said.
Here, former high school classmates, siblings and neighbors all share jokes, laughter and good meals.
"We're just here doing our jobs, and someone says, 'Hey, we really like that place!' So, we're very honored," Brink said.
Uncle Bud's Kitchen is open for breakfast seven days a week, and is located at 16636 Clark Ave #5202, in Bellflower.
