WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman has died after a violent attack in the heart of West Hollywood last Sunday. Deputies said someone pulled out a knife and stabbed her during a fight involving a large group of people.
The woman was rushed to the hospital with severe stab wounds, and she died two days later. Her family has identified her as Maritza Gonzalez Solis.
The suspect at the center of the attack is still on the run.
Investigators say the attack stemmed from a fight that involved up to 30 people. It happened around 3 a.m.
Deputies arrived to find the woman stabbed near the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard.
The intersection was shut down for most of the day while investigators looked for security video and evidence.
While talking to neighbors about the crime, Eyewitness News met the widow of late actress Zsa Zsa Gabor, who said he is stunned by the crime.
"Here in West Hollywood, I'm totally shocked about what's happened here. I'm totally shocked. I come here every day. I do my shopping there. I do my exercises," said Frederic Prinz Von-Anhalt. "West Hollywood is very, very busy. People live a good life, they go out, the restaurants are all open, the bars are open, they're all having a good time, and then all of a sudden, somebody gets stabbed. They stabbed somebody. They knifed somebody. That's horrible."
Many bars and restaurants within the crime tape were forced to close for several hours on Sunday.
