You can dance if you want to, but you can't leave these priests behind.
A video posted to YouTube on April 30 has just started to make holy viral waves. The video depicts Reverend David Rider, 29, of Hyde Park, New York and Reverend John Gibson, 28, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, two seminarians at the Pontifical North American College in Rome, Italy. Rider is the first reverend to show off his moves, starting off with a solid tap routine that would make even Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly blush. Reverend Gibson though isn't going to let his fellow priest outdo him, as he throws out his best fast-footed Irish dance moves. The reverends continue to battle and battle, no one willing to give in, finally leading to a great holy conclusion that earns a standing ovation from the audience.
Some online commenters noted that dancing under a painting of Pope Francis and a crucifix is disrespectful. But the priests won't let religious naysayers stop them from showing off their fancy footwork. "We would just refer them to the bible, where the Lord tells us to live with joy," Rider told the Associated Press.
