An arrest warrant has been issued for rookie LAPD officer Henry Solis for the murder of Salome Rodriguez, Jr. in Pomona.

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a rookie LAPD officer for the murder of a 23-year-old Ontario man in Pomona.

Police said Henry Solis may be driving a 1992 Ford pick-up truck, brown or tan in color, with California license plate 4J79703.

"Solis is a police officer and should be considered armed and dangerous. The suspect knows he is wanted, and that police are actively searching for him," Pomona police said in a statement.

The FBI Fugitive Task Force has been asked to help in the search for Solis.

The shooting happened in the area of Third and Main streets Friday at 3:29 a.m. Investigators believe Solis, who was off-duty at the time, got into a fistfight with Salome Rodriguez, Jr. that escalated into a fatal shooting. Rodriguez was found with gunshot wounds to the lower torso.

Solis, 27, has been missing since police identified him as a person of interest in the fatal shooting. His car was found Sunday abandoned near the area where the homicide occurred.

LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith said the agency is assisting the Pomona Police Department in the search and providing all the information the department has on Solis.

Authorities said Solis knows he is wanted and that they are searching for him.

Anyone with more information on this incident was urged to call the Pomona Police Department's Detective Bureau at (909) 620-2085.
