Insider look at security in place at Riverside City College
Riverside Community College has its own campus police force. Patrol officers have carried assault rifles with them for the past year and a half.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A gunman went on a deadly shooting rampage at an Oregon college Thursday.

Umpqua Community College does have a plan for campus violence, and the school was locked down. Officials said the school has security, but the officers are not armed.

That's not the case at Riverside City College. RCC has its own campus police force. Patrol officers have carried assault rifles with them for the past year and a half.

Police also hold active shooter drills once a year involving professors, staff and even students on some occasions.
