RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A woman crossing a street in Riverside was struck by a vehicle and killed on Thursday. Police are investigating.

Authorities responded to the accident in the area of Alessandro Boulevard and Mission Grove Parkway at about 7:40 a.m. Witnesses told police that a 60-year-old woman was crossing the street without using a crosswalk when she was struck by a gold 2004 Ford Explorer.

The pedestrian was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, where she was declared dead. Her name has not been released.

Police say the driver, a 44-year-old woman from Moreno Valley, is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, investigators said.

The street was expected to be closed for at least four to six hours.
