Father recalls harrowing Santa Clarita road-rage shooting
A man whose family was the victim of a road-rage shooting in Santa Clarita is recalling the harrowing incident, triggered by his wife accidentally spraying another car with windshield fluid.

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man whose family was the victim of a road-rage shooting in Santa Clarita is recalling the harrowing incident, triggered just by his wife turning on the windshield wipers.

The scene, captured on a dashcam video, shows a man pull up to the family of four's SUV, point a gun and fire twice, hitting their front tire.

"All of a sudden some nut job pulls a gun on us and starts firing at us. It was just unbelievable," the man recalled, asking his face not be shown on camera and name not be used for his safety.

He was inside the SUV with his wife, who was behind the wheel, their 13-year-old son and his wife's mother. The family was heading to a birthday party.

The incident started after his wife turned on the vehicle's windshield wipers, apparently getting the other man's car wet. He pulled up alongside them and started yelling.

The family apologized, but that wasn't enough.

The family's 13-year-old son in the backseat saw the gun first.

"He said he's got a gun. And I look over and the guy's got this gun sticking out of his window pointed at us. And the next thing I hear are two loud bangs as the gun went off."

After the bullets hit the tire, the shooter took off.

Luckily the whole incident was captured on another driver's dash camera.

The vehicle had paper plates and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is trying to identify the driver.

"I couldn't imagine what it would be like being in a vehicle and being fired upon just driving with your family members," said Lt. Bryan Aguilera with the Sheriff's Department. "It had to have been terrifying. That's why we're trying so hard to make an effort to locate the suspect in this case and bring him to justice."
