Famed surfer Ronnie Jay found

CULVER CITY, Calif. (KABC) -- Well-known surfer Ronnie Jay, who was featured in an iconic surfing documentary, was found after going missing from his home in Culver City.

Also known as Ronnie Jay Leipold and Ron Jay, the 62-year-old was last seen in the early afternoon hours on Wednesday, family members said. He was located Friday afternoon.

Jay suffers from early-onset Alzheimer's disease and was likely lost and confused, they said.

Relatives also said Jay was a former competitive surfer who was featured in surfing magazines and the iconic documentary "Dogtown and Z-Boys," which was later made into the feature film "Lords of Dogtown."

Culver City Police, family and friends are searching for Jay on the beaches and around Culver City.

Jay is about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, off-white shorts and sandals. He also wears a medical bracelet.
