At Rubik's Cube competition in a small Pennsylvania town, Collin Burns is given the standard 3x3x3 cube that most will recognize as the same model collecting dust on every math teacher's desk. After he's allowed to inspect the cube to plan out his strategy, Burns quickly works away at the puzzle, twisting and turning. Just a moment later, Burns drops the cube -- he's solved it.
Both Burns and the judge glance over at the clock in utter disbelief that the teenager has just broke the world record in a blazing 5.253 seconds!
Naturally, the entire room bursts into excited cheers and screaming, heralding Burns as the new champion. As of right now, the record in unverified, but we're hoping the Rubik's powers at be legitimize his awesome feat.
Burn's quick solve broke the world record held by Mats Valk of the Netherlands, who solved his cube in 5.55 seconds at the Zonhoven Open in 2013. Watch him set that record below.
