MINNEAPOLIS (KABC) -- The family of a slain sheriff's sergeant fulfilled their trip to watch his beloved Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

Sgt. Steve Owen's family attended the Vikings' game against the Houston Texans in his memory.

Owen and his family had planned the trip out to Minnesota to watch the game before he was shot and killed last week in Lancaster.

The Owen family made custom T-shirts with his picture on the front and wore them at the game.

The Vikings honored Owen by putting his picture and name on the jumbotron.

Minnesota went on to defeat the Texans 31-13 to improve to 5-0 this season.

A private memorial is set for Owen on Thursday.
