VAN NUYS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A Chatsworth woman accused of shaking a baby so hard he has permanent brain damage pleaded not guilty Monday.
Monica Rezonable is facing felony child abuse charges.
Prosecutors say Rezonable had just started working for the family in October 2013, when she severely injured then 3-month-old Calin Samora. The now 2-year-old suffers seizures and is severely disabled and partly blind.
Rezonable's lawyer says her client slipped and accidentally dropped the baby.
A pretrial hearing has been set for Dec. 4. Rezonable faces up to 16 years in prison if she's convicted.
