Retired LA County firefighter missing under suspicious circumstances

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Simi Valley police are searching for a retired Los Angeles County firefighter who has been missing for over a week under suspicious circumstances.

Steve G. Voegtli, also known by his friends as "The Dude," was last seen at about 4 p.m. on Aug. 12 at his home in the Wood Ranch area.

According to police, Voegtli, 63, is an avid walker who likes to head to trails in the Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Agoura and Malibu areas. He has no phone, car or identification with him.

The former firefighter suffers from memory problems and may appear disoriented or unkempt.

He was described as a white male adult, standing around 6 feet tall, 180 pounds with brown short hair, a receding hairline and hazel eyes.
