HOLLYWOOD (KABC) -- This week on "Eye on L.A.," Tina Malave takes you inside Hollywood to give you a peek behind the scenes and show you how you can even get in on the action!
PALEY CENTER FOR MEDIA
For TV lovers, the Paley Center in Beverly Hills is a must! Check out exhibits, see your favorite stars in person and ask them questions during the Paley Center's TV panel Q&A events and even spend the afternoon searching their computer database to watch some of the rarest and oldest TV shows in existence!
When Hollywood insiders need space stuff, Global Effects is where they land! This specialty costume and prop house is one small step for man and one giant leap for directors and producers who want the right look for their sci-fi and horror films! Global Effects specializes in authentic suits of armor and space-related costuming and props, but nothing is out of their reach. If they don't have it, they can make it!
Screen Novelties is a production company that specializes in a movie-making technique called "stop motion," one of the oldest and most nostalgic forms of animation. It also happens to be the most arduous, with a full day's work only producing about 4-10 seconds of usable footage. But as the artists will remind us, it's 4-10 seconds of "very cool footage."
HOLLYWOOD'S WILD SIDE
HOLLYWOOD PAWS ANIMAL TRAINING AND AGENCY
Hollywood Paws is an exclusive animal training facility where pets are "groomed" for their moment in the spotlight in movies and TV shows. They also train pet owners to learn the skills needed to keep their furry stars up on their lessons, and serve as a booking company as well.
MOORPARK COLLEGE EXOTIC ANIMAL TRAINING PROGRAM
Ever wonder how Hollywood animal trainers learn to do what they do? Many of them learn at the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College. The world renowned course is a 2-year program that teaches students to be zoo keepers, wild life educators and Hollywood animal trainers. They also have the distinction of being known as "America's Teaching Zoo," complete with a 5-acre zoo housing 130 animals that the students learn to care for and work with on a daily basis.
The Dapper Cadaver in Sun Valley is a prop shop that specializes in all things creepy! You've likely seen their work in numerous film and TV productions such as "X-Men: Days of Future Past," "Jurassic World," and "American Horror Story." Lucky for us, Dapper Cadaver isn't exclusive to the movie industry! If you're looking to spook up your Halloween festivities, a visit to Dapper Cadaver is a must!
JOE ZEE and THE FABLIFE
Fashion expert Joe Zee introduces us to one of his favorite, secret spots "Shareen" in downtown L.A. for fabulous vintage finds. He's also bringing his fashion know-how to daytime TV with the new show FABlife and co-hosts Tyra Banks, Chrissy Teigen, Leah Ashley, and Lauren Makk. Tune in weekdays at 3 p.m. for FABlife on ABC7.
A hidden gem in downtown L.A., Shareen is a secret store filled with racks and racks of vintage dresses and clothing. Frequented by celebrities such as Kirsten Dunst, the Kardashians, and Michelle Williams, Shareen is a must if you are looking for the perfect yet one-of-a-kind outfit, that won't break the bank!
PANORAMA ON VIEW
Long before 3D movies and IMAX theaters, there were panoramas, and we found a place where you can still experience this early art form here in L.A. The Velaslavasay Panorama, located in the historic Union Theater in the West Adams district, takes you back in time for some 19th century-style entertainment.
Now, we can't talk Hollywood without including a couple of stars so we checked out a few places they love to dine!
LISA VANDERPUMP'S RESTAURANTS
Have a cocktail like "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" at Lisa Vanderpump's PUMP Lounge in L.A., a sexy garden restaurant in West Hollywood. Who knows, you might even bump into reality star Lisa Vanderpump herself! With extensive dinner, dessert, and cocktail menus, PUMP's dining experience is one of a kind. She also has two other gorgeous restaurants in L.A., Villa Blanca and SUR.
RYAN GOSLING'S RESTAURANT, TAGINE
Co-owned by Ryan Gosling, Tagine is a Moroccan hideaway in Beverly Hills fit for friends and family who are looking for Moroccan food with a modern and trendy twist, and you just might catch a glimpse of dreamy Ryan himself!
TYRESE GIBSON'S GIBSIHANA RESTAURANT
GIBSIHANA is one-star restaurant you'll only see here on Eye on L.A. because it's not open to the public! Located in singer-actor Tyrese Gibson's backyard, dining here requires an exclusive invite from Tyrese himself! Tyrese dined with Eye on L.A.'s Tina Malave and shared his vision for his future endeavors and told her about his emotional role in the youth empowerment television special, "WE DAY."
