7-year-old girl killed, 4 critically injured in DUI crash into South LA home
A 7-year-old girl was killed, and four others critically injured when a car crashed into a home in South Los Angeles.

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A 7-year-old girl was killed, and four others, including three children under the age of 6, were rushed to the hospital after a car crashed into a South Los Angeles home Sunday evening, according to officials.



The Los Angeles Police Department said a car traveling southbound at a high rate of speed struck the home in the 760 block of East 93rd Street at about 5:45 p.m.



The Los Angeles Fire Department was the first to the scene and said they found four children scattered across the lawn and a woman trapped behind the wheel of the car.



Fire officials said a 7-year-old was dead when the arrived at the scene.



Three boys, believed to be ages 18 months, 4 years and 6 years old, were rushed to the hosptial in critical condition.



The female driver, believed to be 36 years old, was also rushed to the hospital in critical condition.



Officials confirmed the four children were inside the car at the time of the crash, but witnesses rushed to pull them out of the vehicle and performed first aid until paramedics could arrive.



Police said the driver was arrested for driving under the influence.



No one inside the home was hurt, according to police.



Investigators were trying to determine if the occupants of the vehicle had their seat belts on.



The LAPD was investigating the cause of the crash and said its investigation was ongoing.
