2 bicyclists hurt in South LA after car runs red light

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A driver ran a red light and slammed into two men riding the same bicycle in the Vermont-Slauson neighborhood of Los Angeles early Saturday, police said.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Hoover Street and Slauson Avenue around 1:20 a.m.

The bike riders were thrown 100 feet from the point of impact.

Investigators say the 24-year-old rider and his 22-year-old passenger were hospitalized with broken limbs, internal and head injuries. Both are expected to survive.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. No charges have been filed.
