LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Police are searching Wednesday for the driver responsible for a hit-and-run in South Los Angeles that killed a man, police said.
The victim was possibly in his 30s or 40s and was walking at 120th and Figueroa streets when he was hit at about 12:40 a.m. No skid marks were found at the scene.
A portion of Figueroa Street was shut down pending an investigation. No vehicle description was immediately available, but the car may have damage to its front bumper and windshield.
Los Angeles Police Department Detective Jimmy Render said its important for drivers to remain at the scene of an accident.
"Being in an accident is not a crime, but to fail to remain at the scene is a crime," Render said.
