South LA shooting: 1 dead, 3 arrested after chase
A man was shot and killed in South L.A. Friday. Three suspects were arrested after a police pursuit that ended near LAX.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man was shot and killed in South Los Angeles Friday morning. Police say three suspects were arrested after a pursuit that ended near Los Angeles International Airport.

It all started with a drive-by shooting near 53rd and Figueroa streets around 1:45 a.m. Police say a man was shot multiple times in front of a church. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Officers say they saw a suspect vehicle leaving the area and a chase began. Authorities eventually arrested three people inside the van after the driver crashed near Lincoln and Sepulveda boulevards. They are believed to be connected to the South Los Angeles shooting.

Investigators did not find a weapon in the van, but they believe the suspects tossed a gun out of their vehicle during the chase. Authorities say they recovered a weapon at the southbound I-110 Florence Avenue on-ramp.

The suspects are believed to be gang members. LAPD Criminal Gang Homicide detectives are handling the investigation.
