SOUTH PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- Two teenagers accused of plotting to kill South Pasadena High School staff and students were released to their parents' care on Tuesday. Police say the teens had planned a mass shooting at the school.
The 16- and 17-year-old boys will remain under house arrest pending their trial. They were both charged with conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit assault with a deadly weapon, and making criminal threats.
A juvenile-court judge made the ruling Tuesday.
The teens were arrested before the school year began, accused of a plot to target three staffers and kill as many students as possible.
They allegedly shared their plot with another teen, who they later threatened to kill, prosecutors said.
All three teens were arrested on August 18.
No weapons had been procured, and no target date had been selected, according to police.
The teens have denied the charges.
