SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A San Clemente man was sentenced Thursday to 45 years up to life in state prison for raping two women he met online under the pretense of performing a spiritual cleansing.

Alberto Flores Ramirez, 39, met his first victim on Facebook and offered to perform the spiritual cleansing to help with her love life. She took a bus from Las Vegas to Orange County to meet Ramirez.

Ramirez took the woman and her friend to a motel. While the friend waited outside, Ramirez raped the woman. She was allowed to leave with her friend, but did not report the sexual assault until seeing media coverage of a second victim.

The second woman was similarly told she would receive a spiritual cleansing and was driven to a motel, where Ramirez proceeded to rape her. Afterwards, he drove her back to her car. She drove away and quickly called 911.

A jury found Ramirez guilty of two felony counts of rape and forcible oral copulation; one felony count each of sexual penetration by force and attempted forcible oral copulation; and a sentencing enhancement for sex crimes against multiple victims.
