ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Mike Trout will participate in a full workout with the Los Angeles Angels' Class A affiliate at Inland Empire on Tuesday in the next step of his return from left thumb ligament surgery.
The Angels said Sunday that Trout will stay home from their upcoming trip to Minnesota and Texas.
Trout will have a private workout Monday before heading to Inland Empire. If he is ready, he will play in rehab games during the upcoming week.
Trout took batting practice Friday at Angel Stadium. The Angels will announce more details of his rehab plan after Tuesday's workout.
The two-time AL MVP has missed 33 games since May 29. He was injured while sliding headfirst into second base in Miami.
Trout initially was projected to be out six to eight weeks.
