LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Actor Stephen Collins and his ex-wife were in court Wednesday to finalize a settlement in the marital split.
Media and the public were not allowed in the courtroom as the talks began.
Both the "7th Heaven" actor and Faye Grant were both in court with their lawyers. The former couple had been married for 26 years, and their divorce proceedings have dragged on for three years.
Collins' attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, says he wants the original recording and any copies of a leaked therapy session in which Collins admitted to child molestation.
Grant's lawyer says she was not responsible for the recording being made public. But in court papers, Collins alleges that Grant caused financial harm to their estate by failing to safeguard the recording, accusing her of leaving a CD copy of the recording with the words "Stephen Collins/predator" in a trash bag at the driveway of her house.
Kaplan says the leaked recording that went public in October 2014 has ruined his client's career. Collins is asking a judge to deny any further spousal support to Grant.
Collins and Grant were in court all day, but so far, there a settlement has not been reached. They will return to court on Thursday to work on it again.
If there is no settlement, the case is set to go to trial Feb. 9.
