Sting's musical 'The Last Ship' sailing into Ahmanson Theatre

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- When it comes to being an artist, Sting is a man who can, and does, it all. One of his latest projects: he wrote the music and lyrics for the stage musical "The Last Ship." When the show comes to the Ahmanson Theatre in January, he'll also be starring in it.

"I had no intention of being in the play," said Sting. "I just wrote it. But now, yeah, I'm surprising myself."

Sting, who lives part time in Malibu, says he is honored to get to play at a landmark like the Ahmanson.

"There's almost a sacred magic about theater," said Sting. "This is where we reveal secrets."

Sting just finished performing the musical in Toronto. He will spend the rest of the year on his "day job," with a new album coming out. We'll see "The Last Ship" in January of 2020.
