JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Riverside County Department of Animal Services responded to a call about a stray deer in Jurupa Valley on Tuesday, but fortunately for officers, the deer appeared to be very domesticated.

Officer Will Luna brought the deer to the Western Riverside County Animal Shelter and gave it plenty of water.

The deer seemed anything but wild as it calmly drank and ate what it was fed. At one point, the deer even appeared to struggle with officers as it wanted to stop and relax on the concrete floor.

Luna eventually contacted a state Fish and Wildlife warden, and the deer will be transferred to a sanctuary.
