Two teens killed in 5 Freeway wreck remembered in campus vigil

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (KABC) -- A campus community in Santa Clarita gathered Wednesday night to say goodbye to two local students who were killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the 5 Freeway.[br /][br /]The prayer vigil was held at College of the Canyons to remember Michelle Littlefield, 19, and Brian Lewandowski, 18. The two friends died when the Nissan they were riding in was caught up in a multi-vehicle wreck on the 5 Freeway after midnight Saturday in Commerce.[br /][br /]Authorities said the wreck was caused by two men street racing in a Dodge Charger and a Dodge Challenger on the freeway.[br /][br /]Dealio Lockhart, 35, has been charged with multiple counts relating to the wreck, including three counts of second-degree murder and four counts of reckless driving. The other driver is still at large.[br /][br /]The wreck also injured four other people, including two friends in the Nissan with Littlefield and Lewandowski. It also killed the driver of a UPS truck, Scott Treadway.[br /][Ads /][br /]"The worst thing that could happen to a father, a parent is to lose your only child to a reckless episode of another's misjudgment," said Dr. James Kholos, a friend of the Littlefield family.[br /][br /]Friends of Littlefield have set up an [url HREF="https://www.crowdrise.com/michellemlittlefieldburialexpenses/fundraiser/karenperdue[br /]" TARGET="" REL="nofollow"]online fundraising page[/url] to help the family with burial and other expenses. Moer than $15,000 has been raised so far.[br /][br /]Friends of Anthony Miramontes, who was in the car with Littlefield and was left in critical condition by the crash have also established an [url HREF="https://www.gofundme.com/yxrqut4g[br /]" TARGET="" REL="nofollow"]online fundraising[/url] effort.
