Suspect shot after trying to hit LASD deputy with car in South LA

SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A suspect who tried to hit a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy with a car was shot in South Los Angeles Saturday night.

Authorities said around 11 p.m. deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 800 block of 120th Street. During the stop, the suspect tried to use his car to hit one of the deputies. A deputy-involved shooting then occurred.

The suspect fled the scene. He was later detained at a local hospital after being treated for several non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

No deputies were hurt in the shooting. It was unclear why the deputies initiated the traffic stop. The investigation was ongoing.
