ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KABC) -- Police are searching for the driver of an SUV that went airborne and crashed through the roof of a home in Escondido.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 1600 block of Hubbard Place. Police say the driver ran off before officers got to the scene.

Emergency crews had to pull the BMW through the rest of the roof and into the garage in order to tow it away.

The owner of the home says she thought she was experiencing an earthquake when she heard the crash. No injuries were reported, but two cars in the garage were damaged.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
