CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (KABC) -- An accused rapist led police on a dangerous chase on a Tennessee highway before officers stopped him using a risky PIT maneuver. The wild pursuit was all caught on a dashcam.

Every police unit giving chase had a dashcam rolling.

The fleeing driver, 20-year-old Cordarius Caldwell, hit speeds higher than 100 mph while weaving in and out of heavy traffic, hitting more than 15 cars along the way.

One officer ran off the road, and his cruiser plowed up an embankment and nearly hit a bridge.

With so much danger hurtling down the highway, the decision was made to PIT the driver.

The first officer out of his cruiser was seen holding a gun but he soon pulls out a special baton.

He is seen hammering the glass a number of times, but the glass won't break.

The suspect eventually opened the door and that's when officers pulled him out and cuffed him.

The pursuit suspect is facing rape charges as well as felony theft, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol released the dash cam video to show the real dangers its officers sometimes face.
