Fatal crash shuts all lanes of NB 5 Fwy in Boyle Heights

BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A fatal crash blocked all lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway near the eastbound 10 Freeway transition in Boyle Heights early Monday morning.

According to officials, a semi truck and another vehicle crashed around 4 a.m. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately known.

The California Highway Patrol said all traffic was diverted off at Cesar Chavez Avenue.

Three northbound 5 Freeway lanes reopened around 6 a.m.
