Man shot in chest in Venice; suspect sought

VENICE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A search is underway for a suspect who fled after shooting a man in the chest in Venice early Tuesday morning.

According to police, the shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Broadway. The suspect fled the scene in a gray vehicle, investigators said.

An ambulance rushed the victim to the hospital. Authorities said he is in stable condition and was undergoing surgery.

Police have not made any arrests.
