Bristol, Pa -- Ian Smith initially started smoking meat as a hobby, learning the tricks of the trade from YouTube. However, a year ago, that hobby turned into a full-time food truck business, Smokin' Earl's BBQ. "I thought, 'Let me take this hobby to the next level,'" Smith says. "Then, after losing my job, it became a very serious hobby, and it just kind of snowballed." The truck's name is a tribute to Ian's grandfather, Earl.
Smith describes his barbecue style as "Texas-inspired." The meat is smoked with live wood using a smoker from Texas, and Smith adds his own twist with different rubs and dishes he enjoys. The truck features BBQ classics like brisket and pulled pork, as well as unique items like crispy pork belly bites and chicken lollipops.
