The strongest wind gusts hit Orange County, San Bernardino and Riverside County Valleys, the Inland Empire, the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills.
Strong winds blasted the coastline, even taking down a sign at KFC near 45th Street and Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach. The owner said the sign had been there since the store opened back in the 80s.
In Valencia, a canopy was tossed across a parking lot due to powerful winds. The canopy came crashing down onto vehicles.
No one was injured during the incident, but the canopy and two vehicles incurred minor damage.
The wind also made for some dangerous conditions on the high seas. A sailor held on to dear life amid choppy waters after his sailboat lost power off the coast of San Pedro.
Crews with the Los Angeles Fire Department came to the man's rescue, throwing him a rope and towing him into the marina. He was getting dangerously close to the Cabrillo Beach breakwater.
