Flash flood warning canceled for Springs burn area

CAMARILLO SPRINGS, Calif. (KABC) -- The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the Springs burn area until 9:15 p.m, but later canceled it as the rain weakened.

Camarillo Springs residents were initially urged to shelter in place. Ventura County sheriff's deputies checked hillsides for any signs of land movement, such as small landslides, debris flows or progressively tilting trees.

The area is especially vulnerable following previous mudslides. In 2013, a fire swept through Camarillo Springs, burning up vegetation and clearing the way for mudslides.

Thirteen homes in Camarillo Springs were red-tagged and were deemed total losses following a storm in December.
