Cooler temperatures return to Southern California this week

Los Angeles and Southern California will see cooler temperatures Monday and the rest of the week.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- After record-breaking heat, a cooldown is making its way to Southern California this week.

A trough of low pressure moves in Monday night into Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures and marine layer. Tuesday is expected to be the coolest day of the week.

Temperatures this week should be mostly in the 60s and 70s.

Los Angeles and Orange counties Monday can expect a high of 71 degrees and a low of 54. By Tuesday, temperatures drop to the upper 60s.

The valleys and the Inland Empire Monday will be in the mid to upper 70s. On Tuesday, expect a high just below 70 degrees.

Beaches Monday will see a high of 67, with morning clouds and partly sunny conditions in the afternoon. Expect similar weather for the remainder of the week.

The mountains Monday will see sunshine, along with a high of 61 and a low of 28.

Deserts Monday will be in the upper 70s amid breezy conditions. Temperatures will jump to the low 80s later in the week.
