WEST COVINA, Calif. (KABC) -- West Covina police were searching for a man responsible for robbing an area medical facility at gunpoint.

Surveillance video shows the suspect walking toward the acupuncture clinic in the 1400 block of West Garvey Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. Thursday. The man takes a gun from the pocket of his sweatshirt and puts it in his waistband. Once inside, he pulls the hood over his head to further hide his face. Then, an employee comes to the front desk, where she encounters the armed man.

He pointed a handgun at the victim, who ran away and locked herself in another room with another employee, police said.

Video shows the suspect ransacking the lobby and taking the victim's purse, a tablet and $400 in cash. At the same time, the two workers climbed out a window to get help

"She ran into the adjacent business, which is a Hispanic church," West Covina police officer Eddie Flores said.

The suspect was seen arriving in a compact four-door, dark-colored sedan. The vehicle had a driver and a passenger.

Seconds after the suspect fled, surveillance video shows a white minivan in the driveway. Police hope that driver may have seen the suspect.
