WEST LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Los Angeles police are working to identify a burglar caught on surveillance video targeting at least three houses for sale in West Los Angeles.
The suspect is seen on surveillance video walking around inside one of the burglarized homes. Authorities say all of the burglaries have occurred in the daytime during or shortly after open house events held at homes listed for sale in west L.A.
"The suspect can go in, look at what's in the house and then come back at a later date when they know the homeowner may not be there, but there was a showing prior," LAPD Officer Jane Kim said.
The first burglary happened on Sept. 7 at a home in a gated community in the 12000 block of Promontory Road. The second home was hit Sept. 16 in the 9000 block of Liebe Drive. The most recent crime happened a week ago at a house in the 2800 block of Hutton Drive.
Police believe the suspect may have some affiliation with the real estate industry. He has stolen jewelry and high-end watches.
"Be cognizant of where your belongings are. Make sure they are secure before and after any open houses and let your neighbors be cognizant of who is coming and going," Kim said.
The suspect was described as an Asian man about 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing around 170 pounds. He was seen wearing glasses in the surveillance video.
If you have any information about these incidents or the suspect, you're urged to contact the LAPD.
