2 female suspects arrested for fatal beating of man at Willowbrook Blue Line station

LOS ANGELES -- Two suspects have been arrested in the fatal beating of a man at a Metro Blue Line Station in June.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said Virginia Butler, 23, was arrested at her Los Angeles home Wednesday. Tracy Gomez, 24, of Hawthorne, was arrested Sunday. Both women were booked for murder.

John Whitmore, 65, was standing on a train platform June 13 when two women began punching and kicking him, authorities said. Whitmore was taken to the hospital, where died from his injuries about a week later.

Butler is being held on $1 million bail. Gomez is being held on $1,061,142 bail and is set to be arraigned Friday.
