Many consider Yamashiro atop the Hollywood Hills a landmark restaurant.
"In every sense of the word, I mean it was built at the turn of the century between 1911 and 1914 by two German brothers who were enamored with Japanese architecture. They had spent some time in Kyoto, Japan so they modeled this after a house in Kyoto," said Andy Ulloa, Yamashiro.
"The view is gorgeous," said Tara de Lis, Citysearch editor. "You've got views of everything from the Hollywood sign to the buildings in Culver City. It's just a really amazing Hollywood experience."
Part of your dining experience should include popular choices like the BBQ baby back ribs, Darth Vader roll, shoyu glazed black cod, and Asian-style pork carnitas.
Pink's Hog Dogs in Hollywood has stood the test of time.
"It's not their motto, but it could be: 'always a line since 1939 at Pink's,'" said Tara de Lis. "This is a Citysearch favorite for the classic stretch chili dogs still reasonably priced."
There's a perfect view of the beach from The Lobster located at the Santa Monica pier.
"It started in 1923 and it continued on until 1984. The whole capacity of the restaurant was about 30 seats and it was very popular back in the day," said Lynne Thomas, The Lobster.
"We're basically a 99 percent seafood restaurant using all local ingredients, some fish from Hawaii, a little bit from New Zealand and Australia, but everything's pretty much made in sort of an American style," said Allyson Thurber, Executive Chef at The Lobster.
Tara de Lis recommends trying the crab cakes, spiny lobster, and clam chowder.
"Really you can't go wrong on the menu," said Tara de Lis. "There's something for every palate here."
Bob's Big Boy in Burbank has been around since 1949.
"Recognized by the historical landmark society, a classic American diner," said Tara de Lis. "Great place to bring families, kids, seniors, everybody. Good for the whole group. And here's a Citysearch tip. If you go on Friday night, there is a classic car show every week."
